Foodie Tasting Room Infused Olive Oils

When we decided that east Texas would be home, I started venturing out to find my favorite places to shop and eat.

During that process we have met some neat people. Some have become friends and others feel like family.  That’s when you know you’re in the right place, you find yourself standing before positive people who are seeking to do good.

When the Foodie Tasting Room opened last fall, I was excited because I like to shop local and having a place that also offered olive oil was an added bonus. They offer a wide variety of inventory but today I want to focus on their infused olive oil.  It took me awhile to try these oils because I was skeptical.

Sounds pretty silly but things just were not clicking until I tried the “Chive Evoo” and then I tasted the “Parmesan, Garlic & Rosemary” let’s just say all I wanted next, was to get home and cook.

How to use Infused Olive Oil

Starting off I quickly found that everyone has their own ideas on how to cook with this oil.  I personally love it over a nice green salad with grilled chicken.

Some folks serve it with bread or crackers as a treat between meals.

This is what I do for meal prep:
        • First, I drench the pan with a swirl of oil and let it heat up for just a few seconds.  Make sure not to overheat as it can deplete some of the health benefits.
        • Then add your favorite protein like beef, chicken, pork, fish or shrimp. Include some of your favorite fresh vegetables, lightly cook and serve.
        • Dinner in less than 20 minutes and it's good.
It’s even possible to marinate prior to cooking. Seafood like fish and shrimp absorb the infused flavor and wow is it tasty.  Robert and I love seafood, so maybe next time I’ll share one of my favorite recipes where I sprinkle with fresh basil.

For now, if you’re local check out this shop, they started out in Marshall, Texas and recently moved their business to the next town over in Jefferson.

Jefferson is a neat place to visit, a very tourist driven town and the Foodie Tasting Room is located on Lafayette Street.  This is right between two of my favorite businesses, Jefferson Flower Market and Port Jefferson Coffee Roasters.
