Blueberry Smoothie with Lemon Balm

Why making your own smoothies at home might be the best routine yet.

It is that time of year when the humidity increases and my favorite cool off snack is a cold berry smoothie.

I like to make healthy smoothies that taste good so it can be a bit of a mystery as to what I add to the Magic Bullet.  My bullet is excellent for making one person smoothies and it blends beautifully.

Since I finally acquired a taste for plain Greek yogurt that has become a solid ingredient to make a nice cream base. This time around I followed up with frozen blueberries for the chill, a fresh banana and some honey.

Then I added a secret ingredient which came from the garden. I included fresh lemon balm leaves; this perennial herb grows into a light green bushy plant that blooms a small flower later in the summer.

The honeybees love it, lemon balm is known for calming helping everything from anxiety to indigestion.  This easy to grow herb has always been one of my favorites for several reasons.

So almost every afternoon I settle indoors and enjoy a healthy homemade smoothie.  This recipe is easy to make in minutes and it’s good for you.

Blend everything together and enjoy an afternoon smoothie.

Smoothie Ingredients and Blend

    • 3 Tbsp. Plain Greek Yogurt
    • Handful of fresh lemon balm leaf
    • Handful of frozen blueberries
    • 1 banana
    • ¼ cup almond milk (regular milk is fine)
    • Drizzle of honey

In the order mentioned place all ingredients into the Magic Bullet and blend until smooth.  Then serve and enjoy as a healthy afternoon healthy snack that actually tastes good.

This simple treat will have you excited to experiment with your own ingredients. Look for my raspberry smoothie next month.

See the good,
