On a recent visit to Waco Texas, I carried with me a few destinations. One being the Washington Gallery, they have been on my list for a couple months as my husband and I enjoy the art world.
Unfortunately, I was visiting by myself because it was hot, and the dog was with us. Can you believe that?
Robert was generous and encouraged me to go in by myself. I did and come to find out me being solo was good.
Which means I was more alert when I walked through the door and surprised by the warm greeting from the gallery owner and artist Cade Kegerreis.
I have this tendency to sometimes be over focused when in public missing these important details. But this time I caught on quick and appreciated the humble handshake.
His artwork immediately grabbed my attention especially; We Can't Buy It When We Get There.
I was tempted to get this piece but since Robert wasn't there I hesitated. We normally purchase art we both gravitate towards, which means I am still pondering this one.
Collaboration, The Ground that Remembers Them
Prior I was taken with this piece, The Ground that Remembers Them. The simplicity and yet powerful statement made me think of the land we currently call home.
I could see both pieces on separate walls adding a profound statement just as they did in this gallery.
There is a sense of warmth here with the heart of American history.
This collaboration is powerful.
Gallery Scene and Emotion
As I strolled, I couldn't help but notice the details without clutter. Everything was presented beautifully, the scene and emotion of each area felt genuine.
The books on the tables made you feel at home and the overall vibe was perfect.
This is how I see things in life, embracing the good details and ignoring all the clutter.
Presentation is Everything
During my stay, I had a wonderful conversation with the owner, Alan Scott. He brings over 30 years of industry experience to his gallery with a dedication to both art and community. This was very present and our exchange was refreshing.
I left energized just listening to his insight mostly because he understands the art world. As an artist myself, I find people who really get it has become rare.
If you are planning a getaway to downtown Waco, add the Washington Gallery to your destination. This gallery is where art and community coming together.
Be the good,
Carole West
