Healthy Choices with the Yuka App

Making Healthy Choices for food and home products with the Yuka App

When it comes to technology there are times when I’d like to just bury my head in the sand.  There seems to always be a learning curve depending on the topic especially when it comes to making healthy choices.

That’s why today, I want to share the Yuka App. Yuka and I were introduced about two weeks ago and I must tell you, I love it.

As a rule, I don’t really use that many apps so at first, I didn’t think much about it until the salesperson where I was shopping showed me how it worked.

First, it’s very easy to use but I will tell you up front it’s not adaptable to iPhones.  If you have a smartphone, like Samsung or Motorola you can download it through Google Play immediately.

It will take about a minute to install and then you will be able to start scanning bar codes on food and home products. These scans offer an instant rating of bad, poor, good or excellent.  Pretty sweet!
No more reading labels y’all this app does it for you.

Tips from using the Yuka App after you scan a product.

Yuka App Scanned Results

Once the product barcode is scanned, the rating pops up on the screen and then you can see how many grams of sugar, protein, saturated fat and such is in it.

I like to think of myself as a pretty healthy person, but there are times when I don’t always measure up and I go off the band wagon sort of speak.

The Yuka app has been a game changer especially when I use it while I'm grocery shopping.  I was shocked recently at some of my findings and ended up putting about 5 items back on the shelf even though I had my heart set on cream cheese, crackers and lemonade.

I was quite proud of myself because I didn’t really need those items and every time that I fall short from eating healthy, I regret it later.  If being 100% honest, I’m tired of doing that.

I’m also very tired of eating out in restaurants. So, I told my husband unless we are on the road forget it.  I want to know what I am being served; I have this calling to get back to my roots and start making everything myself. This will include some canning, freeze drying and whatever else I can think of.

Great news! My garden plans have been finalized and when temperatures drop, I will be getting started.

So, if you are like me always seeking to live a healthier lifestyle and wanting an easy way to track the food that you buy this is your app and for my phone it was free to download.  Once you have it installed you can even begin scanning what’s already in your pantry.

Take it a step further and scan home and makeup products because many of those have a lot of hidden ingredients that are really bad for you.  Let me recommend that you do not get overwhelmed by this information because I’m going to start sharing homemade product recipes here soon.

Hope you enjoy the Yuka App for making healthy choices as much as I am.

See the Good,
Carole
