Are you a list maker?
I am because it keeps me from forgetting things. So, the other morning I
had a massive to do list. I woke up an hour earlier knowing my outdoor
activity would be limited before higher temperatures would take over.
Normally my day begins with feeding the dog, coffee and bible reading. I have kept this routine consistent but that morning I was focused on that list and decided to move my bible time to the afternoon.
Feeding Kramer and skipping my morning coffee wasn’t happening, so I began brewing a double shot latte while preparing to head outdoors. I was waking up, determined to beat the heat and just as I grabbed the door handle, I looked at my chair in the art studio.
I put my head down, let go of the door handle thinking, God never puts me second. My next move consisted of me taking off my work boots and sitting down to read my bible.
Faithfulness and Loyalty
Faithfulness to me is about loyalty. Many of us are loyal to different things and
for some that level of attention can be centered around our spouse and family. There are others who are loyal to their
career or their goals.
Our homes can be another area of attention and one could say I am loyal to my garden. But the truth is my faithfulness is rooted in the word of God.
I credit this to my morning routine for multiple reasons, one being that it forces me to slow down and grow within. It has also given
me a connection into God’s faithfulness towards us.
Scripture has offered me hope in the present and gives me direction on more occasions than I can count. I believe the best sense of direction we could ever receive comes from God's faithfulness.
Authentic living is a choice and as I have gone through so many of these words in the fruit of the spirit, faithfulness is deep, it's pure and it means putting God first in our lives in everything we do.
So, the other morning when I
reminded myself that God never puts me second it was a great moment.
In the book of Luke, chapter 8 begins with the Parable of
the Sower. I love this one because it’s
related to gardening. Seeds on good
soil stand for those with a noble and good heart who hear the word, retain it
and by preserving produce a crop.
So, after my bible reading that morning, I went outside afterwards. I spent two amazing hours outdoors and accomplished everything on my list in record time. I even harvested my first watermelon of the season.
Be faithful to God, trust him because his message is for you and he wants you to read, believe and live it.
See the Good,
Carole
