Thump, thump and wham the little bluebird slid into an empty
water trough. Lying in a state of shock he was completely stunned for a few
seconds leaving me wondering how to help.
The metal roof was increasing in temperature, and he appeared completely defenseless. Without touching I left him in the empty trough and walked it over to a lower raised bed where we had strawberries growing.
He continued to be still in a complete daze until I tilted the container coaxing him to walk into the planted bed. He did it with little effort letting me know he was not hurt.
He sat there for a few minutes with his eyes wide open and I went to grab my camera. Before I returned, he was in flight enjoying his newfound freedom.
I assumed he recovered because he spent most of the afternoon in the garden, roosting on the arches between flights as if to say, “thank you!”
I was taken for a moment by this gentle reminder that sometimes we need to pay attention to those in real need. You don't have to know someone to lend a hand and quite often I am reminded of this in the mix of our surroundings.
My time in the
garden has become essential to my wellbeing...
It doesn't matter the time of year it seems inspiration surfaces in many positive ways. This space offers a sense of mental freedom where the sounds of good bring everything together.
When this little bluebird finally had the courage to go about his way I was reminded how blessed we are to have our own freedom to fly.
Be the good,
Carole West
