In the early morning the birds are singing, and the frogs are swimming. Time spent around the ponds is never dull, specifically in this area where I gravitate
towards these three pine trees.
They sprouted on their own after we arrived and have struggled to grow through the overgrown weeds.
So back in February, one winter
afternoon I decided to free them from the darkness. It was quite the project and with gusto I was
able to remove the rubble.
Once the space was clear I noticed these three in a new light. When the weight was lifted, they had this spring of life just ready to release.
Months later I continued to keep an eye on them as they
doubled in size. I thought about
transplanting but missed the opportunity because this unexpected growth took
them to another level.
I sit here often and recently had a simple thought that compared these trees to people. Like how we can get caught up in the novelty of this earthy world and miss what is truly remarkable.
So, in these moments of pondering thoughts, I looked at
these trees and quickly thought of Jesus.
What if we placed him front and center of our lives, what
would that look like? If we centered our
faith in him, how would our daily perspective improve?
I got happy just thinking about it and decided it would be smart to spend more time in the quiet. Placing Jesus front and center has given me a greater sense of peace that gets stronger every day.
Are you seeking this kind of peace? Begin reading in the book of John, spend time in the quiet, pray for grace and ask to be forgiven. You will grow just as these trees have.
Be the good,
Carole West
