Before the garden season began, I decided in January to simplifying everything. This included my garden layout, the number of raised beds and where I would purchase supplies and seeds.
After taking an inventory of my garden tools, it was clear an update was overdue. I wanted to decrease the number of tools I use because several were tired, and I barely use the extras.
So, I did some online research to track down the three tools I wanted to maintain our raised beds. I wanted quality and wooden handles; this led me to Berry and Bird Garden tools.
I was really pleased with their selections for hand tools because that was my main area of interest. I wanted a garden scoop and something I could use to wake up the soil prior to planting.
I was after a mini cultivator; what I found was a gem and I absolutely love the 12-inch handle. I use this tool all the time, especially after it rains to fluff the soil between planted areas.
Embracing what I needed was a breeze because their quality is superb; I didn't feel concerned with the expense because I knew they were going to last for many years. Possibly the rest of my life because the quality is greater than anything I have ever used.
The handles are wood and reinforced with stainless steel. Both tools are extremely durable and easy to use regardless of soil type.
The best part they fit my hands perfectly, no slipping and comfortable to the touch. If you have been looking for new garden tools look no further because Berry and Bird tools are truly fantastic.
Maybe garden tools are not on your radar because you are currently more focused on planting. I get that and for years I was always in such a rush to get everything just so. I found myself working harder than what was required.
This year I have slowed down the process, not because I'm tired but because I don't see what the hurry is all about. The stress of overloading to get it all done is not worth it.
Gardening these days really is all about the joy of growing our own food, herbs and flowers. The seedlings have been transplanted, and new seeds went in the ground before the rained arrived.
Both of these tools, the scoop and cultivator made all this activity effortless. We have 13 raised beds in various sizes and height; we will add one more bed and everything else will be directed towards permaculture.
My biggest obstacle right now is our dog Kramer as his behavior is like dealing with a toddler. But when I am digging or beautifying the soil with my Berry and Bird Garden tools, he does tend to keep his distance.
He's a smart dog and very perceptive so perhaps he is just letting me get my work done so he can dig it up later. That's happened so I have been covering the beds with wire and currently contemplating installing a fence. I am not stressing because he knows I am watching from a distance, and he doesn't like to disappoint.
Check out these garden tools, I found mine on Amazon and really like how carefully they were packaged in these wonderful green boxes. The Garden Scoop and the Garden Cultivator are currently my favorites, what I call professional garden tools.
Revisit the piney woods for more garden accessory referrals as I will be sharing garden tool #3 soon.
Be the good,
