East Texas Artisan Market

For an assortment of talented Artisans, visit Gilmer in East Texas.

A few months ago, I went to Instagram in search of a local artisan market.

Artisans have a skilled trade that involves making goods by hand.  You might find them at a farmers market selling painted ceramics, soaps, leather goods. fiber and so on.

These markets were everywhere where I grew up.   I was coming up empty handed, thinking this might be a weird request.

I also knew with the "algorithm trends" there would be a stream of them in my feed when I logged back in.

I was right, and there it was, East Texas Artisan Market in Gilmer.

So let me introduce you to Tracy and Sydney, we met in November.  Their family moved to Gilmer about 4 years ago from Washington state.

I also grew up that way and what a treat they chose East Texas to be their new home.  It really is the best area in the whole state.

Their journey began by looking for a property where they could one day offer a market.  But at the time the market was a dream.

Like many ideas they get pushed aside until one day you go for it.

At the beginning of this year, they decided to go for it.

So, this family with two adult children, a handy husband and mom got busy to see if there was an interest.

Tracy grows loofah on their land and makes a beautiful line of botanicals.

Dan, her husband is a building contractor, Sydney throws and sells her pottery, and Lindsay helps with admin making sure everything runs smooth.

They are what I call a great team with a vision.

So, my husband and I attended the East Texas Artisan Market in November.   I was in heaven and thrilled with the variety of artisans.

Robert found, sourdough bread and chili so he was happy too.

From makers, bakers, growers and curators this destination was everything I hoped it would be.

They have received positive feedback and the drive to their location is the best.  It's nestled in the countryside but not too far and you will enjoy the drive.

Nothing beats a quiet country ride.

If you are in the area add their next event to your fun list, December 20, 10am - 4pm.

They will continue with Spring and Fall Markets and have room for up to 60 vendors.

Find them on Instagram as they are currently accepting applications.

Authentic markets like this are the most genuine way to shop for Christmas.

The best part, everything is local and handmade.

In addition to all this goodness, Sydney teaches pottery lessons for date nights, homeschool groups, ladies' night and much more.

This family is a wonderful addition to East Texas, and I'm so glad they jump started their dream.

East Texas Artisan Market is a place where creatives come together, and the shoppers get to meet the person who hand crafted their purchase.

This my friends happens to be the good side of retail that we all love and miss.

Encouraging Goodness,
Carole West
