For the month of August our watercolor prompt has been about establishing an outdoor painting space. This new setting has been amazing, but one of the first things I changed was how I transport supplies.
Taking my ceramic studio palette outdoors was simply not a good idea. I feared it would get broken and decided to find something smaller.
As you can imagine, this took me to Amazon where I find a lot of my favorite art supplies. This shopping avenue is helpful when you live in the country as it saves time and sometimes money.
Empty Watercolor Palette Tin
I found a neat watercolor tin from Looneng. They offer a few other art supplies including non toxic soft pastels that caught my attention.
My focus though, was centered on their empty watercolor tin. It's a nice compact that fits in your hand with 14 slots for tube paint.
I use mostly Winsor & Newton so this was perfect and I placed a paint tube inside just for size comparison.
Setting up the Palette for Painting
When it arrived, I made sure to inspect prior to washing and adding paint. I selected a natural color palette with some of my favorite basics so I could still mix.
It made sense to use a small amount of paint in each tray slot to see if this tin would work. I love test painting and to my surprise it was perfect.
