Last month I made a bold decision to remove my subscription/newsletter from the blog.
This thought didn't transpire overnight, mainly because I didn't want to let anyone down and the newsletter had an incredible open rate. So why did I remove it?
The problem circled around a small percentage of clicks from the newsletter to the blog. That number didn't justify the time I was putting in.
So, I started chatting with others and began finding that a lot of consumers are tired of these ongoing subscriptions. We are asked to subscribe to everything and it never ends.
This cycle has been going on for years; and when I was niche writing my garden blog, I did it too. It felt like I was pimping for an email address by offering a free gift with hopes to sell something later.
Now, before you start throwing mud my way, I do realize not every subscription is like that and my newsletter here wasn't like that at all.
But with an overcrowded market and these endless offers I decided to focus more on face to face.
My hope has always been to simplify and encourage goodness through creative living.
A Puzzle Piece
I gotta say sometimes my outlook feels like a piece in a puzzle with no place to fit. I understand my "hope" but this cycle we are living in doesn't make sense to me.
Overcrowded is a good description but almost more like an overpopulated city you don't want to visit anymore. You might even call it getting back to basics by freeing up time to live better.
Time Better Spent
My time is better spent enjoying the writing process and creating in a way that energizes goodness. But more important, focusing on improving while being available here because I do love blogging.
This way of thinking has been very positive and writing here without having an additional channel has been wonderful. I hope that makes sense to y'all.
So, if you are wondering how to connect outside of the blog I have three online avenues where you can follow, Instagram, Pinterest and Amazon.
I would also suggest adding my blog to your readers list and simply join in as you read by sharing your thoughts in the comments; for questions connect here. Have a great week friends!
Encouraging Goodness,
Carole West
