I had the best time this summer growing fresh herbs and peppers. I harvested almost daily; I am still harvesting. I also used many for drying so I could make some new spice blends for winter.
I have multiple outdoor projects lined up for 2025. Probably too many projects so by making a few spice blends early in the season I can prepare great meals with little effort on those days when I run out of hours.
This blend is easy to make and if you do not have the ingredients handy, I recommend shopping at one of my favorite online herb resources, Frontier Co-op.
Their product offers superb quality, non-GMO and always fresh.
Winter Spice Blend Ingredients
- ½ cup dried oregano
- ½ cup dried sage
- ¼ cup dried hot pepper chopped
- ¼ cup dried mined onion
- 1 tsp whole cloves
- ¼ cup powered parmesan
Make Blend and Storage
Gather all your ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir everything together. Then store this mixture in a glass jar and cover for about a week
before using. This time frame will give all these
flavors a chance to merge.
This Winter spice blend is fantastic for stews, roasts and for grilling. Enjoy this easy crock pot style chunk roast recipe here.
Be the good,
Carole West
